Overview

Enjoy this beautiful loop around the South Island, taking in many of the most beautiful sights in New Zealand.  From the charms of Christchurch, you’ll journey across the Canterbury Plains before ascending to the beautiful alpine heights of Arthur’s Pass.  You’ll descend to the lush greenery of the West Coast before continuing to the twin glaciers of Franz Josef and Fox, which flow majestically down the steep slopes of the Southern Alps.  Spend some time in the mountain resort towns of Wanaka and Queenstown, and consider a scenic flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound (or, if you have extra time, add nights to your trip and make the drive there).  From Queenstown, you’ll return northward, now making your way up through the drier climate on the east side of the Southern Alps.  You’ll be awed by Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo, before returning to Christchurch to conclude your trip.
