Synonymous with American filmmaking, the district of Hollywood has multiple attractions of interest to visitors: The Hollywood Walk of Fame, consisting of 2,600 stars along sidewalks stretching 15 blocks, celebrating renowned performers, producers and groups. The Hollywood Sign itself is not accessible to visitors, but can be seen from various points nearby; you can make it out in the distance from near the intersection of Hollywood and Highland (face north!), as well as from the Griffith Observatory. If you plan to make the drive along Mulholland Drive, you’ll get views from there also. Historic Grauman’s Chinese Theater, opened in 1927. There are of course a tonne of assorted other tourist attractions in the area if you wish to explore. Universal Studios is located a short drive north (or ride on the Metro Red Line) in Universal City.
