Manzanar National Historic Site

Manzanar was one of ten ‘war relocation centres’ in which 120,000 Japanese Americans were interned during World War II following the attacks on Pearl Harbour. The excellent, recently constructed visitor centre here does a fine job of remembering this unfortunate history. The site is run by the National Parks service – entry is free and very highly recommended.
