• Ross Castle is a medieval tower in Killarney National Park.
  • St Mary’s Cathedral, an enormous structure near the town centre, was consecrated in 1855.
  • Torc Waterfall is near the roadside in the National Park. Many pleasant lakeside walks also lead from here.
  • A beautiful but quite precarious road leads through the Gap of Dunloe. The road is popular with walkers and cyclists, and can also be enjoyed on a jaunting cars which set out from a carpark below the gap. The Gap of Dunloe is also a spectacular drive, but should only be attempted during the early morning or late evening, when there is less traffic on this tiny, narrow road.
  • Muckross House and Farms, on the shores of Muckross Lake in the National Park, is a popular place to pass a few hours.
  • On the Muckross Road, take a left at Molly Darcy’s pub to get to the Blue Pool Nature Reserve, where pleasant walks can be enjoyed.
